Please take a look at the Player Pathway overview information here, which outlines the England Hockey Single System player pathway.

After playing for a club or school, attending a DC is the next step on hockey’s player pathway.

DCs are local training centres for the U11 to U17 age groups.

DCs are open to any hockey player who has been nominated by their club or school

Players cannot be nominated directly by their parents

Please take a look at the DC planning page for camp dates and venues for DCs.

Invitations to register your child will be sent out by the second weekend in May.

The email registration will come from a @surreyhockey.com address. please make sure you look out for the email.

The closing date for nominations from Schools and Clubs is the third week of April. Once all the nominations have been checked for eligibility, invitations will be emailed to parents by second weekend in May.

If you wish to make sure your child has been nominated please contact your School or Club to check with the nominating party.

In the interim, please take a look at the DC planning page for camp dates and venues for DCs.

Current JAC squad members are automatically nominated for the upcoming DC or ACA process however there is no reason a club or school cannot nominate them as well

Some JAC players will get nominated to the PC (Regional level)  by Surrey Hockey and will not need to do DC or ACA levels this year

  • Player Pathway is the overall name for the England Hockey Junior process. This was the "Single Syetem" in the past
  • DC - Development Centre - this is the 1st stage of the pathway after club / school hockey and is a 3 day camp run in the summer holidays. The DC's cover U11's through to U17's however the U11's cannot be selected to higher levels and is used as a "Taster" for them. In the past these have been known as SDC and JDC and run in the July to September period at different locations in Surrey
  • ACA - Academy Centre Assessments - this is the stage after the DC's. Some but not all players from the DC camps, alongside players returning from the previous years Academy Centre squads, will attend assessment sessions to determine the selection to this years Academy Centre squads. In the past this has been know as the JAC Assessment sessions. These take place on Sundays or Fridays in the September / October time periods.
  • AC - Academy Centre - this is the County Squads. At the time of writing Surrey run 2 squads at the U13, U14 and U15 ages and then 1 squad for the U16 and U17. We select between 20 and 30 players to each of the squads. Players get a number of training sessions and also games against other counties (Including the other Surrey team for the U13 to U15)
  • PC - Performance Centres - this is the level above the AC and are run by South Hockey for England Hockey at different locations in the south. Nomination to PC's is from the AC squads and can happen at any time in the cycle. The PC cycle is Aug to Aug each year and runs alongside the county level activity
  • Futures Cup - this is a compertition ran at the PC's and used to help in the selection to the NAGs level
  • NAGS - National Age Group Squads. These are the U16 and U18 England squads and the top level for a player to acheive
